OM's usually have a smaller soundhole. 3.875" is normal I believe. You should buy some plans for these...it will help a lot.

I suppose mine could be considered "Clarence White" OMs

Of so, then what are mine, at 4-3/8"? <Bg>

There are few places where the rules can be bent as much as with the soundhole size.

Yeah, some of the OM/D go that big. The others stay the smaller 4-1/4" <bg>

Don't know what it changes; just know what I like.

I like being able to get my hand in that soundbox.....

I bolt on my necks and I like being able to get my hand in as well. But...I was told that changing the hole size does make a difference...bigger sound hole makes a brighter sound.

increasing the soundhole size increases the frequency of the first air vibration mode.
